Medical Director Opening

PHP Medical Director, Arbour Counseling Services, Boston, MA

Arbour Counseling Services offers partial hospitalization services for youth in two locations: Allston and Worcester. The primary location, The Boston Center, Allston, MA serves both children and adolescents. Both locations provide a continuum of care that includes evaluation, crisis stabilization and treatment for patients with mental illness and/or dual diagnoses. The multidisciplinary team at each site includes an MD and one or more PNP’s.

Position Summary
The Medical Director position reports to the CEO, Arbour Counseling Services, and will be located in Allston. The Medical Director will have supervisory responsibility for prescribers and advise administration on program operation. Oversight of the Worcester location can be accomplished through regularly scheduled teleconferences with key staff. The Medical Director is responsible for assuring quality medical/psychiatric care is implemented for all patients. He/she may complete evaluations and oversee psychopharmacology for a small number of cases at The Boston Center. This is a full-time position with flexibility.

MD or DO Degree, Board Certification in Adolescent Psychiatry. Preference given to candidates with previous supervisory experience.

Inpatient Psychiatrist Openings

This position requires no weeknight or weekend call. Any voluntarily scheduled call for weeknights or weekends is at extra compensation.

Rounding Psychiatrists – Opportunities at all facilities for weekend rounding on inpatients

Completes rounds on child, adolescent or adult inpatients as needed. A written progress note will be completed for each patient seen and the rounding MD assures verbal communication with nurse supervisor and DOC for updates on specific urgent issues where needed.

Doctor On Call (DOC) Opportunities

On-call physicians of all specialties including Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Hospitalist and Family Medicine are needed to provide weeknight and weekend coverage. Duties include writing admission orders, performing physical exams, and providing medical management. The positions offer a competitive salary with flexible scheduling. Full-time, salaried, benefitted DOC positions are available at various locations.

  • Arbour Hospital (Jamaica Plain, MA)
    – Tuesday and Wednesday nights 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.; Thursdays 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.; Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
  • Arbour-Fuller Hospital (South Attleboro, MA)
    – Full- and part-time nights. Overnight weeknights 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.; Fridays 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.; Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.; Sundays 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
    Day physicians work eight hours per day, adjusting their day as it applies to daily call scheduling: 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  • Pembroke Hospital (Pembroke, MA)
    – Weekday and weekend hours: Monday through Thursday 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.;

Partial Hospitalization Program Psychiatrist Openings

Full- and part-time positions are available for psychiatrists to work in the Adult Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP). Primary job requirements include admission evaluations and medication management. Programs operate Monday through Friday with scheduling flexibility. Current openings are at Arbour-Fuller Hospital, South Attleboro, MA and Arbour-HRI Hospital, Brookline, MA.
