The substance abuse treatment programs at Arbour Health System provide a safe, therapeutic environment to facilitate positive growth and change in the lives of clients suffering from substance abuse and addictions.

Outpatient Services

Outpatient Substance Abuse counseling services are available at Arbour Counseling Services (ACS) sites in Allston, Brookline, Fall River, Franklin, Haverhill, Jamaica Plain, Lowell, Medford, Norwell, Woburn and Worcester.

Structured Intensive Outpatient Addictions Programs

Some sites also offer Structured Intensive Outpatient Addictions Programs (SA IOP/SOAP). The adult programs aim to give participants a heightened level of self-awareness about their addiction, solid relapse prevention skills and a variety of coping skills to help them become more independent, self-caring and functioning adults in recovery.

SOAP and SA IOP are available at ACS sites in Jamaica Plain, Norwell and Woburn.

Program services include psychosocial evaluation, monitoring and treatment; behavioral assessment, treatment and recovery planning; group and individual counseling on substance abuse topics; aftercare and discharge planning and family therapy when necessary. Staff includes a physician specializing in substance recovery available to patients if needed, as well as a nurse practitioner who specializes in addiction treatment.

Suboxone Services

Part of Arbour Health System’s Substance Abuse Services continuum of care includes outpatient Suboxone Treatment Programs at select ACS sites for patients suffering from opioid dependency.
